Intercultural & Interreligious Conference

”Promoting an interactive dialogue between diversities to build and improve bridges between religions, cultures and civilizations in North- Afrika, the Middle East and West-Europe”
Location: Museumpark Orientalis, Piet Gerritszaal, Mgr. Suyslaan 10, Heilig Landstichting, near Nijmegen.
Date: Thursday 8th november 2012 starting from 10.30 uur untill 17.00
Organisation: European Islamic Affairs in cooperation with Museumpark Orientalis.
Program:
- 10.30 uur: Reception, coffee and thee
- 11.00 uur: Welcome speech by Jan van Laarhoven, Director of the Museum Park Orientalis, and a short introduction by representatives of European Islamic affairs.
- 11.15 uur: Presentations and dialogue
- Hanneke Gelderblom, former member of senate: Modern dialogue Judaism / Islam, pressured by the Israeli / Palestinian conflict?
- Dries van Agt, former minister of Justice and Prime Minister of the Netherlands: International law and possibilities for dialogue in the Israeli / Palestinian conflict.
- 12.15 uur: Break; visit mosque; lunch in the tavern.
- 14.00 uur: Presentations and dialogue
- Cornelis Hulsman, Chief editor Arab-West Report: Egypt, relations between Muslims and Christians in Egypt after the Arab spring, and portrayal in the media.
- Mauritius Wijffels, Lawyer and Chairman Melba-Legal: Middle-East: constitutional states, economy and business culture after the Arab spring.
- Short dialogue between the various speakers concerned with the effects of the Arab spring on developments in the Middle-East and its effect on the intercultural dialogue in the Netherlands and Western-Europe.
- 16.00 uur: Conclusion and round-up by Cornelis Hulsman.
- 16.30 uur: Visit Orientalis - Cenakelchapel.
